Enel Global Trading's vision stems from the belief that the energy transition must be a driver of shared progress, capable of combining innovation, sustainability, and social inclusion in a single path.
In this spirit, Enel Global Trading has chosen to support EnergyPOP, the campaign promoted by AzzeroCO₂ and Legambiente to combat energy poverty and promote the autonomy of social entities through the use of renewable energy. The project took shape in Grottaferrata, on the outskirts of Rome, where a photovoltaic plant was inaugurated at the Cooperativa Sociale Agricoltura Capodarco. Here, for almost fifty years, the land has been synonymous with hospitality: a place where organic farming, workplace inclusion, and solidarity come together in a model of social economy. Today, the cooperative employs 17 workers, including people with disabilities, migrants, and those at risk of exclusion: women and men who have regained their dignity and autonomy here, building a deep bond between home, agricultural work, and community. Over time, the cooperative has become a benchmark for social farming in Lazio: alongside organic production, it has developed an agritourism business, a restaurant, and an educational farm, offering a model of solidarity-based enterprise in which caring for the land and caring for people go hand in hand.
The project, carried out with the support of Enel Global Trading, involved the installation of a 10.6 kW photovoltaic system, which will enable the cooperative to increase its energy independence through the use of renewable sources, optimizing the use of resources and contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions. The system is estimated to produce approximately 12,890 kWh per year (based on the system's power and the average annual productivity of the geographical area in question), avoiding the emission of 3,950 kg of CO₂ equivalents into the atmosphere.
In addition to the environmental benefits, the project will strengthen the cooperative's organizational resilience, enabling it to plan its agricultural and social activities more efficiently.
"For our Cooperative," said Salvatore Stingo, President of Agricoltura Capodarco, "the EnergyPOP project represents the natural evolution of our commitment. We have always combined inclusion and respect for the environment through organic farming: today, thanks to renewable energy, we can take a further step towards full sustainability."
To complete the initiative, 30 employees of the Enel Group participated in a corporate volunteer day at the Cooperative's educational farm, dedicating themselves to the renovation of five wooden houses used for educational activities with schools. It was a moment of encounter and collaboration that reflects the spirit with which Enel Global Trading interprets sustainability: a shared commitment that values people, the environment, and ties with the territory.
